Embracing the Nomad Lifestyle

The Perks of Full-Time RV Living

Are you tired of the daily grind and the confines of traditional living? Have you ever dreamed of exploring the open road, experiencing new places, and living life on your own terms? If so, then full-time RV living might be the perfect lifestyle for you.

There were many reasons we chose to live full time in our 2013 Winnebago Adventurer A class motorhome.  We explored the idea for about a year before we retired and chose to dedicate our life to the open road. Listed below are advantages to the RV lifestyle. In addition, there is a lot of credible information on-line. Be a critical thinker when navigating the internet posts, some are very helpful while some are not as helpful. There is no “one size fits all” when living your best life on the road.

The Freedom to Roam

One of the most significant advantages of full-time RV living is the unparalleled freedom it offers. You’re no longer tied to a fixed location such as a house apartment or condominium, allowing you to explore new destinations whenever you desire. Legions of adventurous RVrs travel to destinations with the best weather. Many have the saying “We are chasing 80 degree weather!” Depending upon your personal interests, you can visit National and State parks, sun-kissed beaches, or setting up on untamed BLM land, the possibilities are endless.

Financial Flexibility

RV living might be a cost-effective lifestyle choice for many travelers. By minimizing expenses like rent and utilities, you can free up your finances for travel, hobbies, or retirement savings. Additionally, many RV parks offer affordable monthly rates, especially during the off-season. But keep in mind that you are not traveling most days so be aware of the expense of staying at a public or private campground or RV park. When we began full time RVers one big mistake we made was not figuring rent into our monthly budget. Eventually we figured it out. In the end, we found one way to help with expenses for us is to volunteer for jobs that include trading work for rent.

Simplified Living

RV living encourages a minimalist lifestyle, which can lead to reduced stress and increased happiness. There is a sense of freedom by casting out things you don’t actually need. And by downsizing your belongings, you’ll spend less time cleaning, organizing, and maintaining a large home. Our 37 feet motorhome is a lot easier to keep clean than the house we left behind. We met many people who virtually gave up all their possessions except for items that can fit inside the RV. For us, we kept a small storage unit to keep some memorabilia from our families. In the end, we both can say we don’t miss anything that we discarded. We have everything we need with us in the motorhome.

A Strong Sense of Community

The RV community is incredibly welcoming and supportive. You’ll have the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life, share stories and experiences, and form lasting friendships. We have some amazing friends we stay in touch with and share stories. Furthermore, many RV parks host social events, potlucks, and group activities, fostering a sense of belonging.

A Healthier Lifestyle

Spending time outdoors and engaging in physical activities can positively impact your health. RV living often encourages a more active lifestyle, as you’ll likely be hiking, biking, or exploring nature more frequently. For us the temptation to eat out instead of preparing a healthy meal is one way we stay healthy. And in most cases those eateries are not always close by. So in the end, between the activities and healthy eating is a positive outcome for this type of lifestyle.

While full-time RV living isn’t for everyone, it can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience for those who embrace the nomadic lifestyle. By carefully planning, budgeting, and adapting to a more flexible way of life, you can enjoy the freedom, simplicity, and adventure that RV living offers.
